Everything you read on blogs about shoes making an exponential difference in the aesthetic feel of the day is true! But we didn’t have to tell that to Kay though, she had a style and pizazz all her own already :) Here are a couple of my shots from the getting ready pictures that morning, but now that I’ve hooked you with these fabulous accessories, check out Chloe’s blog for more from Layne and Kay’s truly unique wedding celebration!
The hardest part about this shoot was having so many fun ideas and such an open couple and only having one afternoon! The rest was easy though- Chris and Lindsey were fun and flirty and fantastic in front of the camera :) We did some fun portraits (I borrowed the through the lens idea from Jake!) and the last section of pictures we went for a 50’s summer ball-game feel ( a bit of Now and Then nostaglia coming out) Lindsey, of course being Chris’s adoring girl next door fan. Honestly am so excited about this couple, both that they found each other right as they were packing their bags to leave school after Cal Poly graduation, and that I get to shoot their wedding! So looking forward to it :)
Can’t wait to finish these and get them up!
Alexa is a good friend from Santa Barbara who is just as sweet and bubbly as she looks :) It been fun getting to know Matt who has a world of personality once he get comfortable! They are absolutely darling together (I am so happy for you Lexi!) We had to postpone their engagement shoot several times, but I knew it would be worth the wait. When my friend first introduced me to Pelican Bay I knew I had to shoot there but was just waiting for the perfect couple….tada :) I am so excited that they booked me as their photographer and can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Hollister Ranch in just 4 weeks!

Bryant and Johanna and I had a blast on this shoot! We trekked up the johnson trail with tent, fire pit and their puggle puppy in tote :) I sent them an inspiration board with camping pictures in it because they had told me they were the outdoorsy type, and they totally ran with it! There wedding is right around the corner so more images to come soon :)
Matt and Rachel spent most of their dating time long distance and you get the feeling when they are together that they are making each moment count. Matt is so obviously in love with his beautiful bride to be and Rachel perfectly compliments and matches his quick wit and charm. They are a darling, not to mention photogenic couple, a perfect match of sperrys and pencil skirts. we shot around santa barbara, stopping at the Granada (just in time for a fortuitous biker to pass by), the harbor, and the wilcox property. my song of choice for this couple: Such Great Heights, Postal Service.
I love doing shoots that incorporate the couple’s hobbies and personalities and since Bryant and Johanna love camping, we put together a camping shoot! More details to come (birthday week has been a blast but has sidetracked me a bit on blogging!). Come back soon for the rest!
Kaleb, Aryel and I met up in LA while they were visiting CA from North Dakota for a fun evening of shooting! Aryel is opening a bakery this year and wanted to do something fresh and fun for their shoot – so I compiled a bunch of vintage pyrex and cake platters from my friend Necia, and my friend Daniel let us use his apartment and we coordinated a baking shoot! We also got some fun cupcakes donated for the shoot from Amy Bakes Cupcakes. When it came to food fight time, I was expecting a couple frosting dots on noses etc, but they went right ahead and smashed cupcakes on each others faces without a blink! They were an adorable couple (who were troopers for braving LA traffic and freeways with me in my truck) cant wait for their wedding right around the corner!
