The Warmth of Love: Candice and Louie

Several weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing another amazing wedding here in the central coast!!! This wedding was so much fun as the entire day was relaxed and so put together. Candice and Louie both were such troopers as that day it was like 105+ in San Luis and Paso which made for extra care on our part as to keep the bride, groom, bridal part and guests from melting!!! The beautiful traditional ceremony was conveniently held and the San Luis Obispo Mission where it was dark and cool and the reception was at Robert Hall Winery in Paso Robles. The reception worked so nicely at Robert Hall as the guests spent the time when it was warm out down stairs in the grand barrel room enjoying drinks in a nice cool place while we took photos of the group!!! :)
From a photo stand point this event was sooo ideal as the wedding was at 11 and then we had around 2.5 hours of time to photograph the bride and groom and the bridal party before we had to be at the reception!!! Note to all Brides allowing this much time for photos is the best idea ever!!! It was so nice as it gave us tons of time to capture some really fun shots with the group! We also had enough time in the timeline to do a sunset shoot which was more than ideal! (see photos below)
The entire event despite the heat was so lovely from the cake which was donated by the best man to the fabulous food served by Chef Charlie and his team!!! The guests also were having a great time as Brian from Kramer Djs kept the music going so smooth till the very end!!!
Candice and Louie-
Thanks so much for letting me be a part of our day! Sophie and I have had so much fun getting to know you both and I cant wait to see you next week for your viewing!!!

Carmel Beauty: Yosselyn and Dlyan

The other week Dan and I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful wedding of Yosselyn and Dylan @ the Highlands Inn in Carmel California. It was such a fun time as it was a it of a destination wedding for everyone as the bride and groom and most of the guests were mostly from northern California. This fact that the event was a vacation for people really made the wedding very intimate as all 65 of the guests were close friends and family. It was this intimacy in combination with the natural beauty of the surrounding Carmel area that set us up for so really beautiful photos!! Dan and I had so much fun as there were so many place to shoot both at the hotel and on the Beach. The beaches in Carmel are simply stunning as they have thick white sand that is on par with that of Hawaii! :) It was so nice to finally meet Yosselyn as we have been talking over the phone for the past few months and we didn't get to do an e-shoot before as they were to far away. We were able to finish the fabulous weekend though with a fun post wedding casual shoot with them down town Carmel Beach on Sunday. This was quite the shoot for me as I started it off by falling on my head out of a tree while shooting!!! :) Don't worry I am ok... I think :).
Yoss and Dylan, thanks so much for letting Dan and I be a part of your beautiful wedding and for not laughing to much at me when I fell out of the tree! Your wedding was so beautiful and I am truly impressed Yoss by your long distance coordinating skills as everything the day of from the tables to the food was perfect! I hope you will come down to the central coast sometime soon to pay us a visit! Enjoy the photos!

Mikey & Joanna: Bloomington Love

Several weeks ago, I had the honor to travel to Bloomington Illinois to photograph the beautiful wedding of Mikey and Joanna Wang! It was quite a crazy weekend for me as I had a wedding that Friday that I was shooting with Mike and our team and then I left for Illinois @ 6am on Saturday to shoot the wedding Sunday am. With all the connections etc. I think it took me 12 hours to get there but even though it was a quick timeline with lots of waiting, boy was it worth it! :)
I had so much fun further getting to know Joanna, Mikey and their families!!! From the moment I landed to the moment I left, I could not have been taken care of better or felt more welcome. I instantly felt accepted and cared for as if I were part of their family (which by the way I can't thank you all enough for). Everyone was so kind to me and really helped me get acquainted with the cute twin cities of Bloomington and Normal. This was largely thanks to Joanna's wonderful mom who kindly taxied me around on Sunday am to scope out spots to shoot at later in the day (which helped so much so thank you again)!
As I mentioned before and will say again the first thing that comes to mind when I think of the weekend is the word Family. The entire wedding really reflected what was most important to the couple and that was their Family and not just thier blood family but also the wonderful church family of brothers and sisters that were there supporting them! From the third generation dress that Joanna wore (her grandmother first and mom second), the singing by her father and sister-in-law at the ceremony, to the beautiful flowers that were also made by her sister in-law!! All the family members there seemed to in some way take a part in the event which made the joy and excitement even sweeter for everyone. It was such a dear ceremony and the love and beauty of purity was so evident in the vows they shared!
On an visual note, the entire event was so cheery, colorful and bright to which everyone kept saying all day "oh that is so Joanna"! From the bright pink flowers, to the blue bridesmaids dresses with the green sashs it all pulled together so well and was perfect in all the many locations we had the privilege to shoot at. I really had fun also that day as it was also not the normal place that I get to shoot as we don't have many soy bean fields or beautiful lush green forests here locally, so it was really fun for me to get to try some new back drops. I also loved the old book store that we shot in, as I have always wanted to photograph in a location like that and this was such a perfect time to do it especially as it was our rainy day backup spot.
The last but most defiantly not least part that I loved about all this was that my best friend from Cal Poly SLO, Kristine was a guest at the wedding and I had such a fun time getting to see her while I was there which was so much fun!!!
Mikey and Joanna, thanks again for allowing me to photograph your beautiful and God honoring wedding! I hope that you, your friends, and your family will enjoy these images for years to come and that they will remind you of the commitments you have both made together and to the Lord. God bless you both and I hope to see you again soon!
